Primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of bone is rare, and usually represents diffuse large B-cell lymphoma or lymphoma of the follicular centre type. B-cell lymphomas can clinically present as a mimic of multiple myeloma, with hypercalcemia and lytic bone lesions. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma can be mono- or poly-ostotic, affecting multiple skeletal sites without visceral or lymph node involvement. The extent of local disease, additional skeletal involvement, and the presence or absence of lymphadenopathy is assessed by radiological examination.
This case was diagnosed with the help of FDG-PET-CT. When compared with conventional imaging modalities (CT, and 67Ga scintigraphy) for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, PET-CT detects more lesions than conventional imaging.
