MicroPET-MRI Lab
Launched in fall 2017, the microPET–MRI research laboratory is the first LKS Faculty of Medicine facility in The University of Hong Kong (HKU) focusing on the research in molecular imaging using PET–MR as a preclinical tool. The laboratory is incorporated into the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and is located at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Building for Interdisciplinary Research (HKJCBIR). The laboratory is equipped with a state-of-the-art nanoScan® PET–MR imaging system from Mediso (Mediso kft., Budapest, Hungary) funded by the UGC Collaborative Research Fund Major Equipment Project (CRF C7018-14E). This serves as a core-facility of the LKS Faculty of Medicine led by a team of scientists focusing on basic and translational cancer imaging research. A joint endeavor with Molecular Imaging and Medical Cyclotron Center and Radiopharmacy laboratory (MIMCC) of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology allows research in the use of novel radiotracers. The establishment of microPET–MRI facility is also committed to supporting researchers within and outside of the LKS Faculty of Medicine to conduct high quality basic and translational research at the interface of health and science, and to create a feasible research platform to promote multi-disciplinary research studies and to establish collaboration between academia and industry.
